The 2009 programme of events has drawn to a close, but we have already scheduled the first event of 2010 - the presentation of the Ryder Cup to Chris - the winner of the 2009 Summer Show. The other dates are provisional so please keep checking back.

Monday 18th January The Aylett's Ryder Cup Presentation at 10:00 in the coffee shop in Aylett's Nursery. Report here...
Tuesday 8th December Christmas drinks and seed swap - This was held in the White Lion, Sopwell Lane at 7:30 to 8:00ish. Mini report here.

Thursday 1st October Social evening and external speaker - CANCELLED - as speaker had to withdraw
Sunday 6th September Annual Summer Show was on Sunday 6th September in the Sub Aqua Club on Cottonmill Road. Download the leaflet for more details on timings, hints on what the judges are looking for and an entry form. See the report here...

Saturday 11th July Summer BBQ - 4:30 start on Nunnery social area - More here..
Sunday 24th May AGM & Plant Swap 11:00 am on the Nunnery 2 social area. There will be a BBQ, refreshments and some snacks. Bring along any edible produce if you can and any excess plants, seedlings or seeds - but don't feel that you need to bring anything. It's an enjoyable occasion and a chance to meet old friends, make new ones and have a chat. The donors are just glad to find homes for their unwanted produce - so please come along. Report here
Wednesday 29th April The newcomers evening was on Thursday 30 April at 7:45 p.m. in the St.Albans Sub-Aqua Club on Cottonmill Lane.

It was open to all new, recent and prospective allotment holders. There were members from the Association present to pass on their experiences of running an allotment - both the good and the bad,  followed by an informal Gardeners' Question Time with a special guest Martin Feeney’s (from Aylett’s) instilling wisdom on all things horticultural.

2008
Wednesday 10th December Christmas drinks and seed swap. White Lion, Sopwell Lane. 8:00 pm. Do come along even if you don't have anything to swap. People are very generous and you'll get to meet some like minded allotmenteers.
Sunday 30th November Sopwell Mill working party 11:00  am
A general tidy up is planned and we need help to fill the skip. Light refreshments will be provided. See what you missed here!
Sunday 23rd November
Nunnery working party 11:00 am - levelling wildlife area and glazing shed. A second session was also held on Cottonmill. Click here for report and pictures.
Sunday 16th November
Cottonmill working party 11:00 am - Mainly the communal orchard - digging up bamboo and levelling the ground. Please bring along spades, forks, secateaurs and loppers. Light refreshments will be provided.

Sunday 2nd November Annual General Meeting. Sub-aqua club. Doors open 10:30 am. Members and prospective members welcome. Snacks and bar available

Saturday 12th July Summer BBQ
The weather was kind in the end and  we all enjoyed a  lovely afternoon and evening in the Nunnery social area.  The BBQ was capped off with toasted marshmallows and garden games. The raffle also raised £40 for the association coffers. Members can see the photos here

Sunday 9th March Cottonmill Spring working party – 11 am start at the gate. Bring gloves, loppers and secateurs. Wheel barrows are always helpful. Even if you can only help for an hour, many hands make light work!
